Hanoi (VNA) - High quality agro-forestry-fishery and handicraft products are on display at 400 foreign and domestic booths during the 15th International Agriculture Trade Fair (AgroViet 2015), which opened in Hanoi on November 6.

The fair is an opportunity for participating businesses to introduce their products and access new technological advances in agricultural production in the context of declining exports of farm produce.

In his opening remark at the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam said that agricultural production has been hampered by natural calamities, diseases and market fluctuations. Farm produce exports during January- October fell 3.8 percent to 24.6 billion USD against the same period last year.

He stressed that agricultural trade promotion activities have crucial roles in enlarging consumption markets and levering up the development of agro-forestry-fishery production.

Along with exhibited agro-related products, a line-up of events are scheduled during the fair such as workshops, a forum of investment on agriculture, experience sharing by successful farmers, cultural art performances, among others.

The event, held as part of the activities to mark the 70th anniversary of Ministry of Farming and 20th anniversary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, will run until November 9.-VNA
