The 2012 International Fair on High Technology Agriculture and Food Processing Industry (Hi-Tech Agro 2012) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 24, attracting the participation of more than 130 domestic and foreign businesses.

The 250 booths showcased various agricultural products using high technologies, ranging from foodstuff and ornament creatures to high tech equipment and machines.

Pho Nam Phuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre, said participants come from as far as the US , Italia, Holland , the Republic of Korea , Japan and Canada .

This is an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign enterprises to exchange experience and boost cooperation, contributing to attracting more investment to the agriculture and food processing sector, and implementing the national target programme on building new rural model in 2010-2020 period, she said.

Within the framework of the fair, which will run until October 27, many activities and conferences on high technology application in agriculture will be held.-VNA
