US Nobel laureate George Smoot is welcomed at Phu Cat airport in Binh Dinh province (Source: binhdinh.gov.vn) As many as 60 scientists from 19 countries, including US Nobel laureate George Smoot, are gathering at an international physics conference which opened on August 17 in the central province of Binh Dinh.
The event, entitled “Cosmology-50 years after the discovery of universal radiation,” is organised by the Meeting Vietnam Association in collaboration with the provincial People’s Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
At the conference, scientists will offer discourses on the evolution of the universe, the Big Bang theory and universal radiation. A number of exchanges and talks are also set to be held.
According to Prof. Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Meeting Vietnam Association, the conference serves as a bridge to bring scientists together to exchange views and present their studies in the field.
The event will run until August 22.-VNA
