International travel expo 2015 to open in HCM City

Some 21 countries and territories will introduce their tourism products and packages at 250 booths during the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC) 2015.

Some 21 countries and territories will introduce their tourism products and packages at 250 booths during the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC) 2015, which is taking place at the Saigon Exhibitions and Convention Centre (SECC) from September 10-12.

Entitled “One Decade, One Mekong, One World”, the event comprises numerous activities, including a signing ceremony for bilateral tourism cooperation between Vietnam and ASEAN members, a photo exhibition introducing regional countries and people, discounted tourism tours and promotional programmes from airlines, among others.

A series of conferences are also scheduled in the framework of the event such as a forum connecting tourism business of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO), a conference to build an annual report on international arrivals to Vietnam and a conference introducing the tourism markets of Germany, France, the UK, Spain, Italy, Indonesia and India.

According to Vice Director of the municipal Department of Tourism La Quoc Khanh, the event will open with a brilliant performance by artists from the “Mekong five” nations of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

He said that the organising board will present the 2015 Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) to businesses excelling in tourism in each of the five countries.

About 28,000 visitors and businesses are expected to attend this year’s event.-VNA
