Int’l seminar discusses ancestor worship

An international seminar was held in Viet Tri City, Phu Tho province, on April 14 to discuss the ancestor worship as a popular belief in the modern society with the focus on studying the Hung Kings worshipping rituals.

Attending the event were Katherine MullerMarin, Chief Representative of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi , togetherwith many scientists, managers and researchers in the field of culturefrom 16 countries and territories, including Japan , China ,Australia , Canada and the US .

About 130 reports by domestic and foreign researchers were presented at the seminar.

According to Prof. Dr. Tran Chi Ben, Director of the Vietnam Instituteof Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS), the seminar focused on the theoryand methods to study ancestor worship belief as well as the customs,rituals and historical and cultural values of ancestor worship belief inVietnam and in the world, especially the Hung Kings worshiprituals.

The seminar also discussed changes in theHung Kings worship rituals in the modern society and the preservationand promotion of the ancestor worship belief in the period ofintegration and globalisation./.

Ho Chi Minh City addresses manpower shortage for urban railway development

Under the human resources training scheme serving the development of the urban railway network approved by the municipal People’s Committee, the city will need around 70,000 workers by 2030 to support investment in and development of its metro system, including project management personnel, operations and maintenance staff, engineers, technical workers, consultants and designers.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year.
