Italian President sends message to Vietnam on ties’ 45th anniversary

Rome (VNA)– Italy’s President SergioMattarella sent his best wishes to the entire Vietnamese people and PresidentTran Dai Quang on his message of greetings to President Tran Dai Quang on the occasionof the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

In the message, he said that Italy and Vietnam have enjoyed a sound friendshipand officially set up their diplomatic ties on March 23, 1973. Since then, thetwo countries’ relations have been growing robustly across the board throughthe exchange of high-ranking delegations.

A Joint Statement on the Italy-Vietnam Strategic Partnership signed in 2013marked an important milestone in the two countries’ ties and also concretizedtheir common desire to elevate the Hanoi-Rome relations to a step higher. Italso served as an essential tool to deepen the cooperation between the twocountries, he said.

Italy and Vietnam have also achieved an array of good results in multilateralrelations, President Sergio Mattarella wrote, expressing his expectations thatbased on their commitments to dealing with global challenges, the two countriescould make more constructive contributions to the international community inthe fight against climate change and realize development goals to 2030.

The Italian leader concluded the message by sending his best wishes to theentire Vietnamese people and President Tran Dai Quang.

On the occasion, President Tran Dai Quang cabled a message of greetings to PresidentSergio Mattarella and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minhsent a congratulatory message to Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano.-VNA
