Japan presents medical equipment to Hue Central Hospital

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on April 9 presented anumber of medical equipment to the Hue Central Hospital to support the facilityto respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The equipmentinclude an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine, a mobile digitalX-ray machine, and a colour Doppler ultrasound machine, which have combinedvalue of 50 million JPY (over 456,000 USD).

Addressing the handover ceremony, YakabeYoshinori, Head of the Japanese Consulate Office in Da Nang city, lauded the role of theHue Central Hospital in giving healthcare services to residents in the centralregion, especially during COVID-19 pandemic outbreaks.

 The Japanese official expressed his hope that the equipment will help the hospitalimprove the quality of its medical services.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of the HueCentral Hospital, thanked the Japanese Government and JICA for supportingthe hospital over the years, which has contributed to COVID-19 prevention andcontrol of Vietnam as well as Hue and the central region in particular.
He saidthat the hospital will use the equipment effectively to respond to the COVID-19pandemic and enhance the quality of its healthcare services.

Since 2004, the JICA has implemented many projects tosupport the Hue Central Hospital, including a 27,243 USD project to upgradeinfrastructure of the hospital and a project to improve the humanresources quality for the health care system in the 2010-2015 period.

The same day, the Hue Central Hospital signed a cooperationagreement with Vinbrain – an AI software supplier in the health sector – whichaims to increase the hospital’s IT application in its services./.

PM releases instructions as measles cases increase
