Hanoi (VNA) – The Japan External Trade Organisation(JETRO) will create opportunities for Japanese businesses to meet withVietnamese food companies to exchange investment information.

Chief Representative of JETRO in Hanoi Hironobu Kitagawa made the statementat a conference on developing Vietnam’sfood industry on December 12.

JETRO will update information in the field to inform Japanese firms, hesaid.

He noted that many Japanese enterprises want to go to Vietnam toexplore the food industry in the country.

Deputy head of the industry department under the Ministry of Industryand Trade Bui Truong Thang said the food industry in Vietnam has developed strongly inrecent years.

The sector has supplied various products for the economy, meetingdomestic demand and supplying exports.

Many businesses have invested in developing material areas, includingthe largest dairy company in Vietnam Vinamilk, which boasts 10 large-scalelivestock farms nationwide with 22,000 cows.

Saka Hrumi, a representative from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestryand Fisheries, suggested arranging dialogues to forge Vietnam-Japan agriculturevalue chains.

The two countries have held three such dialogues since 2014, he noted,adding that this conference aims to build an agriculture food value chainthrough cooperation between State and private firms in Vietnam.

The event is expected to be held annually as part of activities torealise the bilateral agricultural partnership in the middle and long term, hesaid.

Japanese businesses suggested local authorities provide more financialand technical support policies to establish a waste treatment system to preventland contamination.

At the conference, Japanese companies shared effective business models.For example, vice chairman of the Wagoen Group Kiuchi Hizokazu introducedJapanese vegetable growing technology in Thailand. The group hopes to expandproduction in agriculture in Vietnam,he added.-VNA

Hanoi targets 30,000 new enterprises in 2025

TH Group inaugurates large-scale dairy processing plant in Russia
