HCM City (VNA) – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association (VJFA) of Ho Chi Minh City jointly held a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on December 10 to mark the Japanese Emperor’s 82nd birthday and National Day (December 23).
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Cong Chanh, President of the VJFA of Ho Chi Minh City, said Vietnam-Japan friendship and economic ties have obtained significant progress in recent years.
Japan now ranks sixth in foreign direct investment in the city and its investors have seen Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City as promising destinations for trade and investment, he added.
For his part, Japanese Consul-General to Ho Chi Minh City Nakajima Sotoshi spoke highly of the development of bilateral cooperation in all fields, from economics, foreign affairs, to culture and people exchange.
Japan will continue fostering cooperation and people exchange with the City to strengthen the two countries’ relations.
Japan had operated around 790 projects in the southern business hub from 1988 to July this year, with the focus on infrastructure development, retail, automobiles and science-technology.-VNA
