Japanese leaders receive Vietnamese Party official

Tokyo (VNA) – Japan will continue working closely with Vietnam to effectively conduct projects funded by Japan’s official development assistance (ODA), especially in high-quality workforce development and administrative reform, said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

During a reception in Tokyo on August 29 for Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, Abe said Japan supports Vietnam in successfully holding the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2017 and wishes to increase bilateral ties in regional and global issues.

Chinh asked Abe and the Japanese government to further promote bilateral comprehensive partnership, especially in ODA provision, and the development of infrastructure, high technology, and quality human resources, as well as share experience in administrative reform and public health care.

The same day, Chinh met President of the Japanese House of Councillors Oshima Tadamori, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan cum President of the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Nikai Toshihiro and head of the LDP’s Policy Research Council Fumio Kishida.

Oshima expressed his strong support for continuing ODA supply to Vietnam, and enhancing ties between the two legislatures and the friendship parliamentarians’ groups of the two countries.

He pledged to assist Vietnam in administrative reform projects and receiving more Vietnamese trainees and students.

The host wished that the two nations would continue mutual support in multilateral parliamentary forums to contribute to peace, security and stability in the region and the world.

Japanese and LDP leaders expressed wish to strengthen ties with the Communist Party of Vietnam and jointly work to celebrate the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties next year.-VNA
