Japanese PM’s Vietnam visit – A good start for bilateral relations in 2017

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong has described the upcoming Vietnam visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as a good start for an eventful year in bilateral relations.

Tokyo (VNA) – VietnameseAmbassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong has described the upcoming Vietnam visitby Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as a good start for an eventful year inbilateral relations.

In an interview recently grantedto Vietnam News Agency correspondents, Cuong said it will be the second visitby Abe following the first trip to Vietnam since he took office again in 2012.

As scheduled, Abe will hold talkswith Vietnam’s top leaders to discuss cooperation orientations between the twonations amid changes in the region and the world.

According to the diplomat, theJapanese PM will be accompanied by businesses representatives who will attend abusiness forum and meet leaders of localities to enhance economic ties from thecentral to local levels.

One week after the visit, Vietnamis due to welcome a delegation of 100 Japanese leading businesses – a programmeorganised by the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Japanese enterprises have highlyevaluated the Vietnamese Government’s efforts to build a clean-fingered,tectonic and action-oriented government, he stressed.

Reviewing Vietnam – Japanrelations, Cuong said 2016 was a year of effective, comprehensive and strongdevelopment of bilateral ties, evidenced by increasingly strengthened politicaltrust and high-level meetings and contact, as well as regular economicactivities.

Japan continued to pledge a largeamount of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam and boostedcooperation in new spheres such as the supporting industry and high-quality agriculture,he said.

Remarkable progresses were seenin joint projects in science-technology, human resource development andeducation-training. More than 20 delegations of Vietnamese local leadersvisited Japan, while nearly 10 delegations of Japanese localities andenterprises visited Vietnam last year.

He revealed that also this year, theJapanese Emperor and Empress will pay a first-ever state visit to Vietnam.-VNA

NA deputies continue to discuss amendments to Constitution on May 14

The draft resolution to amend and supplement certain articles of the 2013 Constitution comprises two main articles. Article 1 outlines eight proposed amendments and additions to existing constitutional provisions, focusing on the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and other socio-political organisations, administrative units, and the organisation of local government. Article 2 contains three clauses dealing with enforcement and transitional provisions of the amendments.
