Da Nang (VNA) – Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh had a working session with Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Hernández Guillén in the central coastal city on September 6.

Expressing his delight at the sound growth of the Vietnam-Cuba traditional friendship, Chinh said that Da Nang always values the development of its multifaceted cooperation with Cuban localities with appreciation for support given by the Cuban Party, State, and people for Vietnam in many periods.

The Vietnamese central economic hub has yet to establish friendship and cooperative relations with any localities of Cuba, the official said, hoping that the ambassador will assist Da Nang in its cooperation and business connectivity with the Cuban side, particularly in the fields of health, education, sports, culture, IT, clean agriculture, and people-to-people exchange.

The municipal authorities are committed to supporting and creating the best conditions possible for Cuban partners with intention of conducting investment and collaboration in the city concerning such prioritised areas as tourism, services, IT, and semiconductors, Chinh said.

For his part, Guillén expressed his hope to boost the two countries’ locality-to-locality cooperation, especially in sectors that Cuba holds potential like health care, tourism and education. Hanoi and Havana have already signed a cooperation pact, paving the way for other localities, including Da Nang, to follow, he said.

Acknowledging the central city’s potential and strength in economic and cultural growth, he said many Cuban delegations have come to Da Nang to learn from its development experiences. The diplomat noted that he wishes to become a bridge linking Cuban localities and businesses with Da Nang./.
