Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang presided over a ASEAN Committee in Paris (ACP) meeting at the embassy on September 6, during which he officially handed over the rotating ACP chairmanship to the Chargé d'Affaires of the Brunei Embassy.

Paris (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang presided over a ASEAN Committee in Paris (ACP) meeting at the embassy on September 6, during which he officially handed over the rotating ACP chairmanship to the Chargé d'Affaires of the Brunei Embassy.

At the event, Thang presented a summary of Vietnam's chairmanship from May to August 2024. Under the theme "ASEAN: Promoting Connectivity and Resilience," Vietnam focused on strengthening the partnership between ASEAN and France. Key activities included high-level dialogues with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on France’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and discussions on regional opportunities and challenges.

One notable event was the first-ever ASEAN flag-raising ceremony in France, marking ASEAN’s 57th anniversary. This event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats, as well as ASEAN athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Additionally, Vietnam’s embassy held activities to promote the land, people, history, culture and cuisine of ASEAN countries, helping French residents better understand ASEAN and enhancing cooperation between the bloc and France.

The ambassador emphasised ASEAN's central role in maintaining peace and cooperation in the region, and thanked the member states for their support for Vietnam during its rotating chairmanship, which is viewed as an invaluable opportunity to strengthen ASEAN-France relations and promote regional solidarity.

ASEAN ambassadors commended Vietnam's efforts during its chairmanship, affirming that Vietnam is a proactive, active and responsible member that has always tried its best for the common work of ASEAN./.
