Japan’s book on natural disasters introduced to Vietnamese

A book titled “Kyojinka: enhancing national capacity in combating natural disasters in Japan, Asia and the world” has been introduced to Vietnamese readers.

Hanoi (VNA) – A book titled “Kyojinka:enhancing national capacity in combating natural disasters in Japan, Asia andthe world” has been introduced to Vietnamese readers on the occasion of PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Japan. 

The book gathers research studies on naturaldisaster response of Japanese politicians, scholars and famous policy researchorganisations, as well as major lessons drawn by Japan during the combat. 

It is expected to provide a source of referencesto making policies, organizing and managing society for sustainabledevelopment, and overcoming challenges stemming from climate change.

Through the book, Vietnamese readers can understandmore about the land and people of Japan, hence contributing to consolidatingthe friendship and cooperation between the two countries. 

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe once advisedpeople to read the book as it tells how Japanese people cope with naturaldisasters like earthquakes, tsunamis and drought along with man-made disasterssuch as nuclear power plant incidents and wars. 

According to the World Bank, Vietnam will likelyface damage of more than 141.2 trillion VND (6.7 billion USD) due to naturaldisasters such as typhoons, floods or earthquakes in the next 50 years.

As estimated, about 60 percent of the country’stotal land area and 71 percent of its population are at risk of cyclones andfloods, the bank said.-VNA

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills
