More than 28,000 pregnant women and mothers of under one-year-old children in the northern province of Hoa Binh received Maternal and Child Health handbooks in 2012 under a project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The provincial Health Department, in conjunction with JICA, held a workshop on May 3 to share experience in the implementation of the project in 2012 and work out plans for 2013.

In the 2011-2012 period, the project organised training courses on the contents and how to use the handbooks for health workers at provincial, district and commune levels from Hoa Binh city and six districts of Tan Lac, Luong Son, Cao Phong, Lac Thuy, Lac Son and Ky Son.

In 2013, four more districts - Da Bac, Mai Chau, Kim Boi and Yen Thuy - will benefit from the project. JICA will also provide target communes with health equipment.-VNA
