The Pa Uon bridge, spanning the Da river, in Son La province, a key bridge in the northwest of the country, is expected to open to traffic in this month, according to the Ministry of Transport’s project management union 1 (PMU1).
Earlier, the bridge with the main pillar of 98m, the highest one in the country, got its final link on April 18.
The 9m wide bridge has a total length of 1,273 m, including 255m of exist roads. Its construction started in May 2007 with an investment capital of 740 billion VND (43.5 million USD) invested by the Ministry of Transport.
It is located in the reservoir area of the Son La hydro-power plant and the lower part of the Lai Chau hydro-power plant which is scheduled to be constructed later this year.
Once operational, the Pa Uon bridge will create the nearest link between the two northwestern provinces of Son La and Lai Chau and effectively serve the construction of the Lai Chau hydro-power plant as well as socio-economic development for the region./.
