Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia’s 20th anniversary celebrated

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Khmer-Vietnamese Association(KVA) in Cambodia held a ceremony marking its 20th anniversary on August28 in Phnom Penh.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to CambodiaNguyen Huy Tang applauded the association for its achievements in the past two decades.

Tang said he hopes that in the coming time, the associationwill continue to improve the efficiency and quality of its activities, becominga reliable fulcrum for the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, as well as a bridgeto strengthen relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, Ambassador Tang expressed his wish thatleaders of the Cambodian Government, competent forces and authorities at alllevels, and the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association continue to supportand create favourable conditions for people of Vietnamese origin to stablisetheir lives and foster the bilateral relations.

Vice President of Cambodian People's Party (CPP) SamdechMen Sam An hailed KVA for its efforts to serve the interests ofcommunity members and adhere to the relevant principles and regulations in Cambodia.

She suggested that KVA continue to coordinate with the twogovernments to preserve and cultivate the friendship between the people of the two nations.

KVA was officially established on February 14, 2003, with thename “Vietnamese Association in Cambodia”. On March 7, 2011, the CambodianMinistry of Interior signed a decision allowing the association to change itsname to the Khmer-Vietnamese Union in Cambodia. On May 9, 2018, the associationonce again changed its name to the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia./.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration

Under a draft decree replacing Decree 63, authorities will have to proactively pull information from databases and records for informational or technical procedures.
