The People’s Committee of Mekong Delta Kien Giang province has granted investment licenses to 15 new projects totalling over 1,222 billion VND (57.4 million USD) so far this year, bringing the total investment projects operating in the locality up to 600.
According to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, almost all projects licensed in the period are located in the industrial parks (IPs) of Thuan Yen and Thanh Loc, and Phu Quoc Island .
In the first half of 2014, the province spent about 195 billion VND (almost 9.2 million USD) building infrastructure in the two IPs.
In the coming time, the local authorities will focus on enhancing investment promotion activities through meetings with domestic and foreign investors and addressing difficulties facing investors in deploying their projects in the locality.
They will also pay heed to further developing local tourism, improving the quality of products and services and speeding up high-quality tourism projects.
Kien Giang emerged as an economic spotlight on the Mekong Delta region in 2013.
