Kien Giang (VNA) – The southern province of Kien Giang managed to post a 23.6 percent increase in export revenues in the first four months of this year amid serious impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The province earned more than 205 million USD in the period from the export of over 111,750 tonnes of rice, over 11,600 tonnes of frozen aquatic products, 2.8 million pairs of leather shoes, among others.
Statistics showed over 40 local enterprises engaged in export, shipping goods to 38 markets in the world.
Main markets for Kien Giang’s rice were Ghana, China and East Timor, while those for local aquatic products were the Republic of Korea and Japan, and major buyers of leather shoes were Hong Kong (China) and Mexico.
The provincial authorities have followed closely the export situation in order to timely address arising difficulties for local exporters.
The province also worked to promote safe and sustainable agricultural and aquatic production, thus ensuring material supply for for-export processing./.
