The achievement of 20 million international visitors in 2025 represents far more than a headline figure. It signals that Vietnam’s tourism ecosystem has reached a level of maturity where infrastructure, destination capacity, product diversity, and service quality are capable of supporting large-scale visitor flows, longer stays, and higher spending.

Phu Quoc Airport will be expanded to accommodate up to 18 million passengers per year by 2027, 4.5 times its current capacity of 4 million. By 2050, the airport is expected to handle up to 50 million passengers annually.
CAAV Director Uong Viet Dung said that the airport upgrading project is among projects to be fast-tracked to serve the organisation of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2027 in Vietnam, as well as to support sustainable development of the locality and the country.

The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, home to UNESCO-recognised world natural heritage site Ha Long Bay, welcomed nearly 500,000 tourists on April 30 and May 1, a year-on-year increase of 16%.
