Kon Tum emphasizes preserving and developing traditional crafts

Kon Tum province is home to seven ethnic minority groups, with nine traditional crafts. At present, most of the artisans there are elderly, and their number is getting fewer and fewer. To prevent the crafts from falling into oblivion, the province is now focusing resources on preserving and developing them among the young.

From December 26-30, the Kon Tum Museum and Library held an exhibition showcasing the traditional crafts of the local ethnic groups. Through demonstration at the event, artisans shared production methods and the cultural significance of each product.

One solution proposed by Kon Tum's cultural sector is to introduce these traditions to students, the future generation, to foster understanding and appreciation of the craftsmanship, and daily life of indigenous peoples.

To make these crafts viable livelihoods, Kon Tum province should create policies to ensure stable markets for these products, helping to ensure that the cultural heritage of the province's ethnic groups is preserved for future generations./.
