Hanoi (VNA) - Dozens of singers from the Republic of Korea including boy and girl bands will perform at the My Dinh National Stadium this weekend as part of festivities marking the 25th anniversary of bilateral ties between Vietnam and the RoK.

Organisers said the three-day Business Culture Festival is just one of many events to be held this year to mark the anniversary.

The festival will present a wide range of music, culture, fashion, shopping and culinary treats.

Festival goers can also shop at about 50 booths where Korean businesses will present their wares from 11am to 10pm. The popular Korean pairing of fried chicken with ice-cold draft beer, known as chi-maek will also be on offer.

"Chicken has become such an integral part of Korean culture that there have even been festivals and celebrations in its honour, such as the annual Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival held at Duryu Park in Daegu," Lee Kuk-dong, head of the festival organising board, said at yesterday’s press conference.

"We hope the Vietnamese people will like Korean chicken and beer brands provided by Korean businesses in Vietnam. The Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival was held successfully in HCM City last December."

First launched in 2013, the Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival has grown in scale to become one of Daegu’s biggest festivals.

Along with chi-maek, festival goers will be lured by B-Boy street dance; DJ shows and fashion shows. Four collections by Korean designers will be presented by 30 Vietnamese models.

The climax of the festival will be the MBC Music K-Plus Concert on March 25 and 26. The concert will begin at 5pm with performances by Korean Se7en, EXID, APink, Seventeen, Laboum, Halo, I.C.E, B.I.G, MASC, NC.A, Bom-i, and DJ DOC. Vietnamese pop singers Tuan Hung, Toc Tien, and Hoang Thuy Linh will also be part of the mix.

"We promise to entertain Vietnamese audiences with fun, amusing and enjoyable performances on a bright stage," the Se7en boy band said in a clip from the RoK.

The March 25 concert will be recorded by MBC Plus Television and Vietnam Television’s Channel 6 will broadcast the March 26 concert.-VNA
