Korean firms interested in investing in Long An

Long An (VNA) – Authorities of Long An southern province held a working session with a delegation from Yangsan city, Gyeongsangnam-doprovince of the Republic of Korea led by Mayor of Yangsan city Na Dong-yeon onFebruary 15.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Utintroduced the province’s location and advantages in investment and industrialdevelopment.

The RoK now ranks second among nearly 40 countries andterritories investing in Long An with over 200 projects worth nearly 940million USD. In 2022 alone, the RoK invested in six new projects valued at over122 million USD.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of theprovincial People’s Council Nguyen Van Duoc said Long An will always offerall possible support to investors and firms to learn about its investmentenvironment. He pledged to address difficulties to help them develop productionand trade.

Mayor Na wished that the provincial authorities would continuecreating conditions and incentives for Korean firms to do business there.

On the occasion, Chairman Ut and Mayor Na signed a Memorandum ofUnderstanding on cooperation in expanding exchanges in the fields of industry,electronics, economy, trade, culture, education, science, sports and health; and another MoU between the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Long An branchand Yangsan city’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry./.

Customs intensify crackdown on counterfeit goods, trade fraud

The customs sector has identified the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations as a key task. Customs units nationwide have stepped up inspections and supervision of import-export activities along major routes and at key checkpoints.

Energy imports surge in first quarter of 2026

Data from Vietnam Customs shows that the country spent approximately 2.93 billion USD importing nearly 3.37 million tonnes of petroleum products in the first quarter of 2026, an increase of 77.8% in value and over 44% in volume compared to the same period last year.

Quang Ninh gives nod to first offshore wind power plant

The project is expected to have a designed capacity of 50 MW and will be implemented in nearshore waters of the Co To special zone. It will be the first offshore wind power project in the province, playing a pioneering role in tapping Quang Ninh’s abundant renewable energy potential.

The Government recently approved the “Go Global” programme for 2026-2030, which identifies the private sector as a key driving force in Vietnam’s international expansion process. It aims to help Vietnamese private enterprises strengthen their overseas presence in a comprehensive, effective and sustainable manner through international investment, business activities and deeper integration into regional and global supply and value chains.
