Lai Chau (VNA) – The Border Guard Command of Vietnam’s northern mountainous province of Lai Chau and a unit under the Jinshuihe border inspection station of China's Yunnan province carried out a joint patrol to enforce border regulations on February 25.
The operation, led by the Chinese side, combined motorised and foot patrols over two timeframes, totaling seven hours. It involved three task forces with 48 officers and soldiers, six vehicles, 12 on-site meetings, and the distribution of 300 legal education leaflets to 300 border residents. The teams patrolled a total distance of 150 kilometers along the border from Marker No. 29 to Marker No. 71.
At the conclusion of the patrol, both sides agreed that their joint work proved effective, meeting both teams' set objectives.
They agreed to further strengthen the joint patrol mechanism, intensify efforts against cross-border crimes, and promote a swift repatriation process to maintain a secure and efficient border environment. They also underscored fostering cross-border trade, exchange and cooperation.
Additionally, both said they will continue exchanging border-related information, promptly addressing incidents, and enhancing patrols to combat illegal immigration, human trafficking, smuggling, and other border-related offences. Legal education campaigns will also be reinforced to raise public awareness of border rules./.
