Lai Chau posts estimated growth of 5.54% in H1

The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau has grown by an estimated 5.54% in the first half of this year, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

Lai Chau (VNA) – The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau has grown by an estimated 5.54% in the first half of this year, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

During the period, the province has achieved positive results in socio-economic development. Specifically, the industrial production value has increased by 17%, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue 18.7%, exports of local goods 4%, and tourism revenue 20% to reach 412 billion VND (over 16.17 million USD).

Agricultural production has been maintained with grain food and fresh tea bud output rising by 250 tonnes and 2,000 tonnes, respectively.

The province has also seen progress in the fields of culture, healthcare, disease prevention and control, education, administrative reform, investment and business environment improvement, along with the implementation of the national target programmes, the local administration said.

For the whole year, Lai Chau targets a GRDP growth rate of 9% in 2024, an increase of 4.1% in agricultural production value, and an industrial production value of nearly 7.9 trillion VND.

It expects to welcome 1.128 million visitors and earn 974.8 billion VND in tourism revenue. The province also eyes an export turnover of 17.96 million USD in 2024./.

Construction of AEON Hai Duong Shopping Centre kicked off
