Lam Dong (VNA) – UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever has acknowledged Lam Dong province’s efforts in searching for the bodies of three British tourists who died climbing waterfalls in the locality on February 26.
At a working session with the provincial People’s Committee on February 27, the ambassador urged local agencies to continue to investigate the accident.
Pham S, Vice Chairman of the Committee, extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, promising that the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong would provide the most accurate investigation results it could.
According to the official, right after hearing about the accident, the province mobilised forces to search for the victims. Their bodies were found the same day.
Lam Dong has completed diplomatic procedures, coordinating with the UK Embassy to contact the victims’ families and began investigation work, he said.
One male tourist and two women died after slipping and falling off a waterfall while visiting the Datanla tourist attraction in Da Lat.
The trio were exploring the waterfall with a Vietnamese tourist guide when the accident occurred.
The waterfall is said to be popular among foreign adventure lovers. Tours regularly take visitors hiking and navigating around the falls.-VNA
