(Photo: vov.vn) Can Tho (VNA) - The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta city of Can Tho willhold a night festival with flower garlands and coloured lanterns in Ninh Kieu districtfrom August 19 to 21.
Thehighlight of the festival will be a contest called “Hoa dang Ninh Kieu hoi tuvà toa sang” (Ninh Kieu lanterns shine brightly together) which will be held atthe Di Bo (Pedestrian) Bridge in Ninh Kieu Harbour.
Participantscan submit their floral lanterns by the morning of August 19, and they will beexhibited on the nearby Khai Luong Canal until August 25.
“Theevent will demonstrate Ninh Kieu’s hospitality and attractiveness for bothdomestic and foreign tourists, especially international officials attendingAPEC 2017,” said Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh, head of the district’s Culture andInformation Bureau.
The eventis a collaboration between the district People’s Committee and the city’sDepartment of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Thefestival will also feature other activities including displays of freshvegetables and Ninh Kieu’s traditional dishes; an exhibition called “Ninh Kieu– Can Tho, old and new” featuring calligraphy, paintings, photographs andportraits; don ca tai tu (Southern folk music) performed on a river;a Vietnamese boat race; and other traditional games.-VNA
