The northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on August 12 decided to send 100 tonnes of rice in support of people in China’s Yunnan province who were heavily affected by a recent earthquake.
The relief aid constitutes the traditional friendship between the two countries and between Lao Cai and its neighbour.
A powerful earthquake struck Ludian county, Zhaotong city in southwest Yunnan province on August 3, killing 617 people, injuring over 3,000 others, and triggering severe economic losses.-VNA
