Lao delegation learns about Long An province's investment attraction

Long An (VNA) – A delegation of officials of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) led by member of the Standing Committee of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee Viengvilay Dilaphan visited the Mekong Delta province of Long An on October 2.

The Lao delegation's trip aimed to learn about Long An province's experiences in socio-economic development and foreign investment attraction.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Long An province Nguyen Van Ut provided information about solutions to promote investment attraction. He also briefed the delegation about Long An's orientations on economic restructuring, investment in transport infrastructure, human resource training, industrial development associated with protecting the environment and promoting high-tech agriculture development.

Local officials briefed the Lao guests on Long An’s socio-economic development and outcomes in drawing foreign investment, and priority areas for investment cooperation.

Accordingly, in the first nine months of 2024, Long An granted investment certificates to 78 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total registered capital of over 475 million USD. So far, investors from 38 countries and territories have invested in the Mekong Delta province with 1,325 projects worth 11.5 billion USD.

Long An maintained its position in the top 10 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide in attracting FDI. Major foreign-invested projects in high value-added sectors have helped Long An province not only shift its economic structure towards industrialisation, and but also grow rapidly and sustainably.

For his part, Dilaphan said through the working trip, the Lao delegation understand more about experiences and effective methods of the Long An authorities in socioeconomic development, especially attracting investment.

The visit also contributes to fostering the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, he noted./.
