Vientiane (VNA) – Party and State leaders of Laos hosted receptions for Hoang Binh Quan – special envoy of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong, in Vientiane on January 22.

General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Bounnhang Volachith expressed thanks to the Vietnamese Party leader for sending a special envoy to convey congratulations to the LPRP on the successful 10th National Congress as well as to he himself on his election as General Secretary of the LPRP.

He wished the 12th National Party Congress of the CPV will be a success, and affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will do their best to protect and develop the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.

Quan, who is also a member of the CPV Central Committee and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs, hailed the successful 10th National Party Congress of the LPRP as a significant political event marking a new development stage of Laos’s revolution.

The Vietnamese official praised the significant achievements that the Lao Party, State and people have gained during 30 years of renovation and five years of implementing the Resolution of the 9th National Party Congress.

He expressed his belief that Laos will reap more fruits in the coming time under the leadership of the LPRP and build Laos into a country of peace, independence, democracy, unity, and prosperity towards the goal of socialism.

He said the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which were founded by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong and then nurtured by the two countries’ generations of leaders and people, have become invaluable assets of both nations.

The ties constitute one of the most important factors that ensure the success of each country’s national defence and construction cause, he said.

At a separate meeting with the Vietnamese special envoy, President of Laos and former General Secretary of the LPRP Choummaly Sayasone wished Vietnam’s 12th National Party Congress a success.

He expressed his belief that the special relations between Vietnam and Laos will further develop to a new height.-VNA
