Lao National Assembly President Pany Yathotu on Aug. 26 made a working visit to the northern province of Ninh Binh.
At a meeting with provincial officials, NA President Pany Yathotu congratulated the province on its achievements, highlighting Ninh Binh’s economic growth rate of over 16 percent a year and per-capita income of over 1,000 USD a year.
The Lao leader expressed her pleasure with maintaining the fine traditional friendship and cooperation between Oudomxay and Ninh Binh, which was separated from Ha Nam Ninh province in 1992.
She asked the locality to create favourable conditions for its enterprises to invest in Laos and Oudomxay province in particular, considering it as a clear evidence of the everlasting special, unprecedented relations between the two Parties, States, National Assemblies and people of Vietnam and Laos .
During her visit to the Ninh Binh fertiliser plant, NA President Yathotu was presented with a project on exploiting rock salt in Laos , a key project of the Vietnam chemical industry. The NA President affirmed to do her utmost to join the Lao government’s efforts to conduct necessary procedures so that the project would be granted permits and begin operations soon.
On this occasion, Pany Yathotu visited and planted a tree at the Bai Dinh pagoda.
Later in the day, she held a working session with the Bank for Industry and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), which was among the first Vietnamese businesses to operate in Laos . BIDV and a Lao partner set up the Laos-Vietnam Bank 12 years ago.
At the session, the BIDV presented 10 scholarships worth 50,000 USD to H’Mong students in northern Lao channeled through the Lao National Assembly’s Office./.
