Vientiane (VNA) – Officials of the ExternalAffairs Commission of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) CentralCommittee visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane on September 1 to offercongratulations on the 72nd National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945-2017).

Sounthone Sayachac, who chairs the commission,highly valued the enormous achievements that the Vietnamese people haveobtained over the last 72 years under the leadership of the Communist Party ofVietnam, especially after more than three decades of reforms.

She described those attainments as a great encouragementfor the Lao people during their national development and protection.

She expressed her delight at the consistentsupport that the two Parties, States and peoples have given to each other overthe past years, stressing that the countries’ Solidarity and Friendship Year2017 is a good occasion to remind the people of their traditional relations.

On behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, SounthoneSayachac once again appreciated the assistance that the Vietnamese Party, Stateand people have given to their Lao counterparts.

Amid unpredictable global developments, hostileforces will unceasingly seek ways to damage the two countries’ relations.Therefore, Vietnam and Laos should coordinate more closely to reinforce theirties, she emphasised.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen BaHung thanked the LPRP commission chairwoman for her sentiment towards Vietnam andgood assessments of the country.

He voiced his hope that the LPRP and relevantagencies will continue working closely with his embassy to successfullyorganise celebrations of the Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017, therebyhelping people understand more about the bilateral friendship and developVietnam-Laos comprehensive cooperation.

He also thanked the Lao Party, State and peoplefor supporting Vietnam over the past years, adding that he hopes the twonations will bolster coordination to build a strong ASEAN Community and promotepeace and stability in the region and the world.

The same day, leaders of some Lao ministries andsectors also visited the Vietnamese Embassy to deliver congratulations on the72nd National Day of Vietnam.-VNA
