Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and foreign guests at the event (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA)– Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife hosted a banquet for ambassadorsand head of international organisations in Vietnam and their spouses in Hanoion August 31 on the occasion of the 72nd National Day (September 2).
Addressing the event,the PM reviewed the country’s achievements over the past 72 years, highlightingthat Vietnam is always a friend and trustworthy partner of countries around theworld.
Noting commonchallenges facing the world, he said that Vietnam always works hard to join theinternational community’s efforts for a world without war and poverty.
He recognisedinternational friends’ support to Vietnam’s attempts to build a constructive Government,he said that Vietnam is focusing on implementing breakthrough measures anddrastic moves to improve the economy’s productivity and competitiveness, speedingup administrative reform and backing businesses.
With its foreignpolicy of independence and self-reliance, Vietnam has strengthened internationalcooperation and integration as well as its efforts in building the ASEANCommunity, he stated. The PM also saidthat Vietnam is working hard to show good performance in hosting the APEC Year2017.
He thanked governmentsand people of foreign countries as well as international and regionalorganisations and international partners and friends, expressing his hope toreceive further support from them.
On behalf of theguests, Venezuelan Ambassador Jorge Rodon Uzcategui, who is also head of the diplomaticcorps, in Hanoi congratulated Vietnam on the National Day.
He lauded Vietnam’sattainments in socio-economic development with GDP growth reaching 6.21 percentin eight months of this year and likely hitting 6.7 percent for the whole year.
He said that Vietnam isa responsible country in external relations activities, with up close partnershipwith other developing countries, mainly in agriculture, thus contributing tothe equal and sustainable development of the world.
He also praisedVietnam’s efforts in hosting the APEC Year 2017, while expressing his beliefthat the event will be a success.-VNA
