National Day of Vietnam takes place at Expo 2017 in Kazakhstan

Astana (VNA) – Vietnam’s NationalDay was marked at Expo 2017 Astana in the capital of Kazakhstan on August 29,featuring folk music performances that attracted a large audience.

The event took place to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945) and the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-Kazakhstan diplomatic ties.

Vietnam is among 115 exhibitors from acrossthe world at the Expo 2017 Astana, themed “Future Power”, underway from June 10to September 10. The 25-hectare grounds enableparticipating countries to introduce their beauty, potential and initiatives inusing power sources for sustainable development.

Vietnam’s pavilion at the exhibition is themed“Fusion of Tradition and Modernity – Vietnam’s Future Energy”. The pavilionfeatures various photos and videos telling the story of a country withbeautiful landscapes, world heritages and rich cultures, and the richness ofthe Mekong Delta region.

It also showcases ways of Vietnamese ancientpeople to get energy from nature, for example, traditional water mills forirrigation and water-driven rice pounding mortars.

The country’s tourism potentialis also on show, with handicrafts available on site.

Additionally, the pavilion hoststraditional performances every day, together with shows by artists from theVietnam Music Academy and Vietnam Puppetry Theatre.

Speaking at the event, Ministerof Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said developing clean sourcesof energy like solar energy, biomass energy, and wind power, is part ofVietnam’s national plan for power development.-VNA

On the morning of October 10, a ceremony was held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi to launch a nationwide campaign encouraging regular physical exercise under the message “Everyone should choose at least one suitable sport to practise regularly”. The event was held in person and connected online with 33 provinces and cities nationwide.

From Berlin, the Vietnamese guitar fosters cultural connections to global community

This year, 30 contestants from 15 countries entered the competition, with five finalists set to compete on October 10 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee in Berlin. The programme also includes a gala concert, masterclasses and a guitar exhibition. Long’s compositions have been selected as compulsory pieces, introducing international musicians to Vietnamese music.

Hanoi launches project to build cultural industry hub in Old Quarter

The project, covering about 3,862sqm. at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha, includes around 2,317sqm. of construction area. It will renovate existing structures, improve architecture and landscaping, upgrade technical infrastructure and create spaces for cultural, artistic and creative activities.
