Pasason newspaper, the organ of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, on July 18 ran an editorial praising the increasingly fine relations between the two neighbouring fraternal countries of Laos and Vietnam.
The editorial was published on the occasion of the 34 th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam – Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 – July 18, 2011).
It said that the Vietnam-Laos long-standing special friendship, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and fostered by the two countries’ generations of leaders, is flourishing.
It is an important factor to ensure revolutionary success in each country and promote comprehensive cooperation for the benefits of the two peoples, and for peace, stability and development in the region and the world, added the editorial.
Additionally, the article also reviewed fine achievements in bilateral cooperation in many fields, especially in investment activities.
Vietnam is now the largest investor in Laos with many successful and underway projects.
The two sides are striving to increase bilateral trade to two billion USD by 2015./.
