On April 11, Lao Prime Minister Thongsin Thammavong received a senior level delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication, led by Minister Nguyen Bac Son.
At the reception, Son wished his hosts well as they are celebrating their traditional New Year festival, Bunpimay.
He reminded those assembled that the Vietnamese-Lao friendship exhibition of books was successfully organised by both the delegation and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, to mark the 50 th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties.
Son also reported on recent joint activities between the two ministries in information and communication and made several proposals for cooperation in the future, especially events during Vietnam -Laos Friendship Year 2012.
Prime Minister Thammavong lauded the organization of the Vietnam-Laos friendship book exhibition, saying it will help to promote mutual understanding and give both peoples a better understanding of each other.
He said the Lao Government will work with Vietnam to ensure the best possible conditions for joint activities between the two countries in the future.
Thammavong said he hopes that both countries will continue to share their experience and increase the frequency of visits, to further consolidate Vietnamese-Lao solidarity.-VNA
