Laos honours Hanoi trade union

The Lao President has conferred the Order of Labour, second class on the Hanoi Confederation of Labour (HCL) for its assistance to the trade union organisation of the Lao capital city of Vientiane.

Secretary of the Lao Party Central Committee and Mayor of VientianeSoukan Mahalath presented the decoration to HCL President Tran Van Thucat a ceremony in Vientiane on May 6.

Earlier,Thuc and a HCL delegation were received by the Vientiane Mayor, whosaid he highly valued the HCL’s assistance to the Vientiane Federationof Trade Union (VFTU).

Soukan Mahalath affirmedthat he will create favourable conditions for the VFTU and the HCL torealise plans under the signed agreement to care for and protect thelegitimate interests of labourers, contributing to tightening thesolidarity and brotherhood between the two capitals and the twocountries.-VNA

Former deputy minister jailed for six years in solar power case
