A number of Vietnamesecollectives and individuals have been honoured with Laos’ nobledecorations for their great contributions to the building of acommemorative house of Lao students during the war time.
The honour was presented by Lao Deputy Minister of Education andSports Kongsi Sengmani at a ceremony in Vientiane on April 29.
Colonel Nguyen Khac Lam, Rector of Border Guard College No. 1, received the third-class Labour Order.
The school, together with Blue Peace JSC, was also granted the Friendship Order.
Blue Peace JSC Director General Cu Thanh Tien got the second-class Order of Development.
The commemorative house of Lao students who lived and worked inVietnam from 1960 to Lao Liberation Day was located in Tan Yendistrict, the northern province of Bac Giang.
Covering an area of 500 square metres, the 3.7 billion VND house is designed in Lao traditional architecture.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kongsi Sengmani expressed his thanks to theParty and State of Vietnam for raising and training thousands of Laostudents during the war.
The students have contributedsignificantly to their home country’s development, he said, addingthat many of them have played important roles in the Party and Statefrom grassroots to central levels.
Lam pledged topreserve and use the house effectively to help younger generationsunderstand more about the special relationship between Vietnam andLaos. -VNA
