Laos honours Vietnam’s training assistance

Laos has awarded its noble Orders to a Vietnamese university’s teaching staff and professors for their outstanding contributions to training its human resources as well as fostering the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Prof. Soukkongseng Sayngaleuth, member of Lao Party Central Committee, Director of the National University of Laos presented the Friendship Order to the National Economics University of Vietnam at the ceremony in Hanoi on March 29.

Prof. Nguyen Van Nam, Director of the National Economics University and Prof. Nguyen Van Thuong, former director of the National Economics University , were conferred with Laos’ second-class Labour Orders.

The Friendship Orders were also awarded to four others professors, including two former Vice Directors Tran Tho Dat and Bui Anh Tuan.

On this occasion, Laos also granted certificates of merit to nine Vietnamese experts for their contributions to developing training and scientific research relations with the Lao National University .

Over the past 50 years, the National Economics University has been assigned to train officials for Laos.

For 2006-2012 period, the university received 265 Lao students to study 16 majors in Vietnam, 185 of whom graduated.
