Laos meeting marks Vietnamese army’s foundation

The Defence Ministry of Laos held a meeting in Vientiane on December 22 to mark the 70 th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
The Defence Ministry of Laos held a meeting in Vientiane on December22 to mark the 70 th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army(VPA).

Secretary of the Lao Party CentralCommittee and Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Sengnoun Saynhalatrecalled the 70-year history of the VPA which was founded and trained bylate President Ho Chi Minh.

Over the past sevendecades, the Vietnamese army has made a lot of glorious victories,including the 1954 Dien Bien Phu triumph over the French forces, the“Dien Bien Phu in the air” campaign to safeguard Hanoi capital in 1972and the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign that liberated the south andunified the country in 1975, the minister said.

He reminded participants of the close coordination of the two armiesduring wartime, showing his profound gratitude to the VPA for helpingLaos in the past struggle for liberation as well as the currentnational construction and development.

He saidhe believes that in the time to come the two armies will continueintensifying cooperation to become stronger, thus contributing toconsolidating and developing the Laos-Vietnam traditional friendship,special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
