Laos permits Vietnam to search for minerals

The Laotian government has signed a contract with Vietnam’s Global South Joint Stock Company, allowing the firm to look for minerals in Laos.
The Laotian government has signed a contract with Vietnam’s Global SouthJoint Stock Company, allowing the firm to look for minerals in Laos.

Under the contract, operations will be permittedin a 24 square kilometres area of Xangthong district, near VientianeCity.

Global South company pledged to use modernstate of the art equipment and a team of highly experienced specialistsduring their operations.

The company will also do its best to be environmentally friendly and provide jobs for as many local people as possible.

To mark the occasion, the Vietnamese company donated 40,000 USD to build five houses for Laotian war veterans.-VNA

Finance ministry eyes flexible tax thresholds

In a draft law amending several articles of the laws on personal income tax, corporate income tax and value-added tax, Vietnam's finance ministry proposed scrapping the fixed revenue threshold of 500 million VND. Instead, it suggested the threshold be set by the Government based on prevailing economic conditions.
