Hanoi (VNA) – Lawmakers reviewed the socio-economic performance so far this year and the three-year implementation of the 2016-2020 socio-economic development plan during the ongoing sixth session in Hanoi on October 26, which was broadcast live nationwide.
With NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien in the chair, they also looked into the socio-economic plan for 2019, the three-year implementation of the 2016-2020 economic restructuring plan, the support policies for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and the national target programmes for 2016-2020.
Forty-six legislators offered opinions on stabilising micro-economy and growth in tandem with economic restructuring, improvement of productivity and economic competitiveness, human resources quality, reform of State administrative apparatus, personnel streamlining, administrative reform, mid-term public investment, foreign investment attraction policies, and adoption of modern technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
They also shared views about agricultural restructuring, disaster prevention and control, climate change response, sustainable development in the Mekong Delta, shortcomings in health care, vocational training, management on transportation works and logistics services, policies for ex-revolutionaries, the poor and the elderly.
Difficulties, achievements and ways to promote the national target programmes on sustainable poverty reduction and new rural development for 2016-2020 were also tabled for discussion.
Others included shortcomings in legal enforcement in land, public investment, urban construction and management, natural resources, law-building and preparations for the implementation of the resolutions adopted by the sixth, seventh and eighth conferences of the 12th Party Central Committee.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha addressed several issues of concern raised by deputies.
On October 27, the legislature will continue debating the progress of the annual and mid-term socio-economic plans at the plenary session, which will also be televised nationwide.-VNA
