Leaders pay tribute to Uncle Ho on National Day

A delegation of Party and State leaders on September 1 laid a wreath in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum as the country is celebrating the 66th anniversary of National Day.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong TanSang, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, permanent member ofthe Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh and President ofthe Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam joined thedelegation.

Sixty-six years ago, President Ho Chi Minhread the historic Declaration of Independence at the Ba Dinh Squareto establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The Declarationaffirmed that “Vietnam has the right to be a free and independentcountry and in fact it is so already. The entire Vietnamese people aredetermined to mobilise all their physical and mental strength, tosacrifice their lives and property in order to safeguard theirindependence and liberty.”

Over the past sixty-sixyears, the entire Vietnamese nation has spared no effort to defend andbuild up the present Vietnamese Fatherland. Vietnam is now much morepowerful and becomes a prestigious country in the international arena.

After that, the delegation also laid a wreath at the Monument to fallen combatants./.

The materials include a reproduction of the front page of the August 24, 1945 issue of Cuu Quoc (National Salvation) Newspaper, its first publicly printed edition after previously being secretly circulated in handwritten form, featuring the Vietnamese national flag; and documents and reports on Nguyen Ai Quoc's activities related to the establishment and orientation of the Communist Party of Annam.

Vietnam, France boost economic and financial cooperation

Economic ties have continued to grow across trade, investment and development cooperation.
