The aims of the project include assessing current and future impacts ofclimate conditions, while evaluating the effectiveness of measures tocoping with risks of harsh climate conditions such as floods, floodtides and sea levels rise.
The project also focuseson assessing losses resulting from salt marsh expansion, promoting theengagement of local people in the planning process and sharingexperience as well as drafting strategies to enable access to researchresults.
Huynh Thi Thep, Vice Director of theDepartment of Science and Technology of Long An, said the project willinitially benefit the four riverside districts of Can Duoc, Can Giuoc,Chau Thanh and Tan Tru and is expected to expand to other districts ofLong An province.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late 2012./.
