More than 200 Vietnamese expatriates and students in Beijing gathered at a New Year party thrown by the Vietnam Embassy in China on February 13.

The party offered cheerful atmosphere with music performances and the homeland’s traditional dishes. Partygoers received gifts, including a pair of Chung cake (square glutinous rice cake), the most distinguishable feature of Tet (Lunar New Year) in Vietnam.

On the occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Tho extended greetings to his fellow countrymen, adding that the Government and Party always pay attention to the life of the Vietnamese abroad and highly appreciate their contribution to the development of the national construction cause.

The Vietnam Embassy and overseas Vietnamese communities in Denmark also celebrated the approaching Year of the Goat with a feast on February 7.

There are around 4.5 million Vietnamese living and working across 109 countries and territories. They form an indispensable part of the nation and play an important role in intensifying cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and the rest of the world.-VNA
