Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday to be marked with various activities

Hanoi (VNA) – The Indian Embassy in Vietnam onSeptember 20 announced various activities to mark the 150th birth anniversaryof Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi.

The embassy will organise agrand ceremony to commemorate his birth anniversary on October 2 with thecoordination of two Vietnamese ministries and the Vietnam-India FriendshipAssociation.

A photo exhibition on theIndian leader will also be held, and stamps will be issued and a special publicationabout him will be published on the occasion.

Earlier in June, filmscreening and book-reading sessions related to the Indian leader was organisedby the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre under the Indian Embassy.

The Embassy had also presentedmany books compiled by Gandhi to the National Library of Vietnam.

In August 2018, a Gandhi bust was inaugurated atthe Indian Embassy in Hanoi during a visit by Indian External Affairs MinisterSushma Swaraj.

With the support of the IndianEmbassy, four Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camps have been set up in fournorthern provinces of Vietnam, namely Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh and YenBai./.

Intellectual cooperation deepens Vietnam–France relations: expert

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year.
