Major wind farm unveiled in Thailand’s Mukdahan province

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Minister of Labour has chaired theunveiling of windmills forming the Romklao Wind Farm in Nikom Kam Soidistrictof northeastern Mukdahan province.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the province’s Deputy Governor SuwitChanhawon, the district chief Chaisit Suwannachote and representatives ofWinchai Co Ltd as well as locals of the area.

The wind farm by Winchai Co Ltd consists of 13 windmills able to produce acombined 45 Megawatts of power. Each windmill is 167 meters high, the highestin Asia, and covers a plot of 1,200 rai that spans both Mukdahan and Yasothon.The project was approved by three separate public forums and is to be fullyoperational by April 2019.

Labour Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsinghakaeo explained today that the farm willproduce environmentally-friendly energy and create employment in the area. Itis also expected the farm will become a new tourist attraction.

The Deputy Governor echoed the sentiments and revealed that Nikom Kam Soi is tobecome known for its windmills with budget already set aside to promote thefarm. – NNT/VNA
