Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – A total of 324 people were arrested in an operation conducted by the Penang National Anti-Drug Agency at several entertainment centres and night clubs on April 9.
The operation drew 130 officers from numerous agencies, including the Immigration Department, People’s Volunteer Corps, and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
According to Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed, among the 250 men and 74 women detained, 83 tested positive to different kinds of drugs.
More than half of the detainees are under-aged, he said, adding that the local authorities should take stern action against owners of entertainment outlets for allowing underage children to enter their premises.
Nur Jazlan also noted that the arrested group included government and security officers.-VNA
