Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysia has begun a new drug rehabilitation programme which is expected to bring about better outcomes and reduce the rate of re-addiction.

The trial, led by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada), have sent 200 addicts to the National Service (NS) camp in Selangor state’s Semenyih, where they will spend two months learning training modules focusing on re-integration into society.

The programme is also expected to imbue participants with nationalism and patriotism.

Society-based rehabilitation for drug addicts is a trend worldwide, said Nada director general Abdullah Halim Mohd Hussin.

He revealed that in the future, drug addicts who seek treatment can voluntarily join the programme at the NS camp.-VNA
