The Malaysian Government realise out the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS) to ensure that every guest worker has a biometric card attached to his profile.
Home Minister Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on October 30 that with the new system, illegal workers could be identified.
By the end of next year at the latest, every guest worker will have a biometric card with advanced security features, he added.
Zahid said his government had agreed with foreign embassies to penalise foreign workers who break the law. Those detained will be sent home and have no chance to come back to Malaysia.
If successful, the system will be extended to foreign students at institutes of higher learning in Malaysia.
From September 2011 to September 2012, as many as 117 companies had been penalised for offences regarding foreign workers' employment, said Zahid.-VNA
